World Vision Launches Multiple Micronutrient Supplementation Project in Collaboration with Key Partners
In a groundbreaking move to improve the health and nutrition of vulnerable children and communities, World Vision has officially launched the Multiple Micronutrient Supplementation Project. This project, launched in collaboration with the Ministry of Health, Vitamin Angels, Kirk Humanitarian, and The Power of Nutrition, marks a significant stride towards enhancing healthcare access and overall well-being for children and pregnant women in need.
The grand launch event took place at the Sarova Hotel in Lusaka, where representatives from the partnering organizations, government officials, and stakeholders gathered to celebrate the beginning of this critical project.
The MMS project seeks to avail multiple micronutrient supplementation (MMS) to 329,378 pregnant women and build the capacity of health workers and community-based volunteers to deliver MMS and support pregnant women in the three provinces of Northern, Southern, and Lusaka. Additionally, the project will be used to advocate for the Government of Zambia through the Ministry of Health (MoH) to adopt MMS distribution and incorporate it into the national essential drug list and budgetary allocation in place of Iron and Folic Acid currently being provided to pregnant women.
